Ingredients1 box macaroni or penne pasta
1 8oz. pkg. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
salt and pepper
Cook macaroni 2 to 3 minutes less than instructions on the box.Drain pasta. Butter a 3 quart Pyrex or other baking dish. Place a layer of macaroni on the bottom of the dish . Sprinkle salt and pepper. Cover with shredded cheese and dot with a few pats of butter. Keep making layers until all of macaroni is used up. Do not tamp down the pasta because it will make the dish too dense. Pour milk over the top of the dish until it is 1 1/2 inches deep at the bottom of the dish. Bake at 400 for 45 minutes to 1 hour. depending on how crispy you like the top.
