Apple Dump Cobbler
1 pkg (2 layer) yellow or white cake mix ( I use spice cake or a Carmel cake mix)
1+ stick of real Butter
3 large Granny Smith Apples - sliced
1 c Sugar
1/8 c Flour
3/4 ts Cinnamon
1/4 ts Nutmeg
2 tb Lemon juice
Wash, peel, core and slice apples. Place apples slices into some acidified water (add some lemon juice to a bowl of water) to prevent darkening. Combine sugar, flour and spices. Rinse and drain apples; stir into sugar mixture. Let stand until juice begins to flow, about 30 minutes. Stir in lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until mixture begins to thicken. Pour mixture into Dutch oven Sprinkle cake mix over top of mixture, DO NOT STIR! Sprinkle with cinnamon and cut pads of butter and let fall on surface. DO NOT STIR, it will burn. Cover and bake until bubbly and top is lightly browned, about 30-45 min.
